Welcome to our Year 6 page.

Meet the team

In Y6 this year we have;

Miss Wildman - Y6EW Franklin class teacher and Assistant Headteacher

Miss Lee - Y6HL class teacher

Mr Ambler - teaching assistant working across both classes.

Mr Lowson often works with us to help with maths.

Miss Moss and Mrs Crocker teach the classes on some days when Mr Hill or Miss Wildman are busy with other jobs in school.

Useful information:

Y6 is a really exciting year where we work on preparing the children for their transition to secondary school. Our focus is on developing confidence and independence alongside ensuring the children are ready to access the Year 7 curriculum. As we move through the year, we encourage the children to take more responsibility for their own learning, both in school and at home. Each week, Y6 children should complete the following home learning activities:

  • 15 minutes of reading at least 3 times a week.
  • 20 minutes of Times Table Rockstars
  • 30 minutes of Doodle Learning
  • Practising weekly spellings.

This can be recorded in their home learning log and will be rewarded in school with house points, prize draws and other rewards.

All children in Y6 will hold a pupil leadership role such as House Captain, KS1 Playleader, Prefect, etc. This is something that Y6s have always enjoyed and develops them all as role models and leaders, improving confidence and resilience along the way.
